Clinical Benefits:

Saw palmetto may assist with the management of medically diagnosed BPH by acting as an inhibitor of 5-alpha-reductase.³ This is the primary mechanism by which saw palmetto relieves the symptoms of medically diagnosed, benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH).
Randomised, blinded, multi-centered studies have shown the combination of saw palmetto and nettle may reduce the symptoms associated with medically diagnosed BPH in men^3,4 These studies have measured significant reductions in specific lower urinary tract symptoms associated with medically diagnosed BPH, including:⁵
- Urinary frequency
- Nocturnal urination
- Decreased urinary flow
- Hesitation
- Irritation, dribbling and incomplete emptying

One particular multi-center study, involving 257 elderly men with BPH, found those receiving a combination of saw palmetto and nettle revealed significant reduction in prostate symptom scores after 24 weeks, compared to placebo.
